Abstract realist painter Renee Dumont was born in Massachusetts and has quickly become a full time, best selling artist. In addition to the inspiring illustrated paintings she creates, Renee has painted for both private and public collectors as well as many corporations across the U.S. and Canada.
As Renee likes to put it she is "completely unencumbered by formal instruction" as she is a self taught painter and her art reflects her vibrant and energetic spirit. She’s kind of a wild-haired artist type; she's an organic eat’n health nut that loves connecting her art and her lifestyle with inspiration. Renee is like the straight forward, fun-loving girl next door.
Renee states, "I painted a lot as a kid and was always looking to make those coloring books look like Picasso paintings. I ate tons of candy when I was a kid which lead to child obesity. For that reason suffered much bullying as a little girl and found peace and contentment when I found myself in a creative state. At age 11 I found my first encounter with God from a piece of art with a quote that said, "I know I'm somebody God don't make no junk".
Since then I love being a universal voice to lift others up through God's Love and the world he created that surrounds our life with beauty. "I give credit to that one inspirational piece of art, that happened to be a "Turning Point" to finally accept who I was and to feel content and free to express my thoughts with a paint brush. My hope is that my viewers find inspiring thoughts that really make a difference in their life.
When I grew into my teens I developed a passion for fitness and nutrition, as well as dancing, music and all of the other teenage stuff as my artistic desire grew a lot more serious. At age 17 I decided to go to the David Hale Fanning school of Art in Worcester MA. I went on to college to earn a degree in fine art in Rhode Island. Since 1981 I have been a working artist. I had the opportunity to work with a group of artist's just after graduating from college which involved painting large scale murals of many historical sites throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Through that experience I also grew to love painting history. I found myself exploring the river banks throughout the Blackstone River Valley and I fell in love with painting my old brick mills buildings and damns that all seem to tell a story of their own.
I also painted works for illustrations for magazine covers as well as children's illustrations and I sell the paintings as originals. I was fortunate enough to partake in my first public unveiling in 1997 and continued to accept commissions for portraits of both people and pets.
"The events in my life, my marriage, raising my children, loving my pets, laughter with people whom I adore, bereavement of those dear to me, meaningful music, historical locations, ongoing challenges and occasional triumphs and faith inspired messages are all reflected in the paintings I create. Every painting is charged with the emotions as my spirit which I believe is moved by God himself. I do have a passion for the bible and the history of our land that seem to affect each of us.
"When people fall in love with my paintings, they sometimes share that It’s like hearing that certain song come on the radio and Oh Wow- you’re right back in a state of awe. There might be times my collectors have experienced with a tear of sorrow and joy all mix in at once. And so I've had thousands of conversations, letters and emails that began with ‘this picture reminds me so much of…’""When art ‘clicks’ it triggers an emotional response. If the art can spark smiles and deep feelings of the world we love, places we visited in our imaginations and the types of things that matter most in life. There’s a real connection between art, artist, and viewer."
"THAT’S why I do what I do, and why I go to the lengths that I go to; people only respond to Passion, Authenticity and The Authority of Experience." For this reason my most recent project of completion was to write and illustrate a book about my life and my journey to wellness, entitled, Fixing My Fattening Life”. The book tells the story of how the "Grand Weaver" has lead me to become a lifestyle coach using both my art and my life experience to coach people who need a new perspective and who struggle with lifestyle related illnesses, and poor eating habits.
"My clients and members KNOW that I know."
